Marketing & Event Coordinator

This position is open too candidates 30 yrs and younger as part of the Canada Works Youth Grant and duration of work is contingent on successful grants.

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for keeping our beautiful property clean and organized for markets, events and concerts located at 3201 Long Point Rd in Harbourville Nova Scotia.  The North Mountain United Tapestry is a venue for a weekly outdoor farmers market with musicians, a weekly indoor artisans market, regular music concerts, and other seasonal events and fundraisers.  The Marketing and Events Coordinator will work closely with the Farmers Market Manager, and this dynamic team will ensure that the Farmers Market and Artisans Market run smoothly, and that market musicians are set up and comfortable to play for happy vendors and guests.  If you like to work on all kinds of projects, from organizing to cleaning, setting up for events and taking down, this might be the job for you!  In addition to these physical tasks, the Marketing and Event Coordinator will be the lead on communications and social media for all markets and events.  They will share the beauty and happiness at all our markets, concerts and events by taking photos, posting stories, promoting events, offering giveaways, and other creative marketing campaigns to entice residents, tourists and vendors to enjoy our wonderful markets and events.

Overall Purpose

The North Mountain Tapestry (“NMUT”) Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for:

  1. Representing NMUT to visitors and vendors at the Harbourville church
  2. Maintaining a clean and organized property and church environment
  3. Creative promotion and implementation of markets, events and concerts for the benefit of the community and tourists

The North Mountain Tapestry (“NMUT”) Market and Event Coordinator is responsible for:

Tasks include cleaning the facility and grounds before and after the market, managing garbage and recycling, keeping storage rooms organized, supporting music events by putting out chairs and tables and storing them afterwards.

Maintaining the church and property so they are suitable for markets, concerts and events (cleaning the facility and grounds before and after the market, managing garbage and recycling, keeping storage rooms organized, supporting music events by putting out chairs and tables and storing them afterwards)
  1. Communications (provide information on local tourist attractions and events, sharing photos and stories of Harbourville history, collecting photos of event activities, promotion on social media, giveaways, online and live raffles)
  1. Establishing and enforcing a consistent garbage, recycling and composting system
  2. Other duties as assigned by the Market Manager or Board.

Reporting Relationships

The Marketing and Events Coordinator reports to an assigned Board Member.

  • NMUT customers/visitors

Tapestry’s vision is to create a community that is socially connected, nurturing and supportive and honors and celebrates its culture and heritage.  We see this person maintaining familiarity with all the artisans and their work, working collaboratively with the Artisans Market liaison to suggest ways for artisans to promote and market their work (online, for example).

Decision-Making

The Marketing and Events Coordinator keeps the assigned Board Member informed of the progress of their work and consults on challenges that may arise and on actions that may have an impact on Tapestry policy.  All issues of a sensitive nature are referred to the assigned Board Member for resolution.

Hours of Work

The Marketing and Events Coordinator will work 35 hours per week from May 27 to October 7, 2023.  Part time work may be available from October to December to support landscaping or capital projects.  As part of their weekly work, they will adjust their schedules to also work at musical concert events during the season.
